Canadian Indonesian Social Club

The Canadian Indonesian Social Club serves Calgary, AB as a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and community engagement through diverse social and recreational activities. Since its formal registration in 1983, the organization has established itself as a vital hub for cultural education and friendship-building in the Calgary area. The club operates a comprehensive program of events and activities designed to introduce Indonesian culture to the broader community while providing members with meaningful social opportunities. Activities include monthly Warung Sabtu (Saturday Food Fair) gatherings, Indonesian language instruction in Bahasa, cultural performances and dance classes, and participation in community events such as Pasar Malam (Night Market) celebrations. The organization also coordinates recreational sporting activities including badminton, bowling, and mini-golf tournaments with discounted rates for members. Special seasonal events feature free Easter celebrations, Stampede breakfast activities, Indonesian Day potluck picnics, and annual dinner gatherings. Beyond social events, the Canadian Indonesian Social Club provides members with networking opportunities, access to an active Facebook community, and platforms to promote member businesses. The club maintains an inclusive, non-political and non-religious approach while welcoming newcomers to Canada and facilitating cultural integration. Managed by a dedicated team of 12 volunteers, the organization achieves its mission by collaborating with other associations and community organizations throughout Calgary and Southern Alberta to create enriching cultural experiences that strengthen bonds between Indonesian-Canadian members and the broader Calgary community.
